Wellness services: veteriniarian with cat on a wellness visit

  • Wellness services: we believe in working with you to determine the individual needs of your pet. To keep your pet happy and healthy, we will recommend a program of essential care, including complete physical exams, diagnostic tests, dental care, proper nutrition, parasite prevention, and immunizations. And as your pet ages, we recommend more frequent examinations for earlier detection of the health problems that older animals may develop. We also work with veterinary medical insurance providers if you would like to ensure care is always available for your pet.

  • Emergency services and urgent care: please call ahead 503.954.3393 during our normal office hours to ensure that we can provide timely service. If an emergency occurs outside of our normal office hours, the closest 24-hour  services are available at Dove Lewis 1945 NW Pettygrove St, Portland, OR 97209. Phone (503) 228-7281

    Surgical services: veterinary surgical suite

  • Surgical services: we believe that preventative care is the best approach for long term oral health. Our hospital provides extensive dental services, including digital dental radiographs, prophylactic and periodontal treatments, extractions, and oral surgery. Our dental book contains more detailed information on dental procedures. Our state-of-the-art sterile surgical suite is equipped for a wide range of procedures. Some examples of the types of surgeries that we perform include neuter, ovariohysterectomy (spay), soft tissue growth removal, bladder stone removal, and gastrointestinal foreign body removal. For orthopedic and more specialized surgical procedures, we refer our patients to highly-qualified local surgeons that are board certified. We’re very proud to offer the most advanced anesthetic safety and pain-reducing protocols. We believe in a comprehensive approach to both pain prevention and safety to ensure a comfortable recovery for your pet. Prior to anesthesia, we test every patient’s blood for any hidden, underlying disease conditions. Once determined to be healthy, every patient undergoing anesthesia receives warmed IV fluids during the procedure and into recovery. Throughout the procedure, every patient is closely monitored by a qualified veterinary nurse trained in anesthesia and pain management. Our monitoring devices include ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure, and temperature. A warming unit circulates warm air to maintain body temperature, and a nurse sits with every patient until completely and comfortably recovered. We will call you as soon as your pet is in recovery. We have pets of our own, and so we want to do our best to educate you and to ease any anxiety that you may have about anesthesia.

  • Diagnostic services: our hospital is equipped with a complete laboratory and a radiology department to evaluate and respond to your pet’s health condition. We also partner with Idexx Laboratories, which provides high quality diagnostic testing and consultations with clinical pathologists and internal medicine specialists. All of our X-rays are reviewed by board certified radiologists.
